Mini and I travelled to Kyoto last Wednesday.
We ate and ate, saw temples and flowers, and ate some more. I tried fugu for the first time, and hid from ninjas in Nijojo temple.
Kyoto is full of beauty, which is surprising when you first arrive - the area around the main station is nothing but concrete and bitumen. But as you explore a little you start to come across small cobbled streets lined with wooden shops and shrines and temples.
We took a lot of photos, and bought a lot of souvenirs. I bought a pair of tabi that are a little too small - but I hope the fabric will stretch with use.
As they say, Kyoto is a city built around the seasons, and we were there on the cusp of Spring. Flowers had started to bloom, and the gardens were really coming alive. I think I'd really like to go back in Autumn and see the leaves change.
In summary: if you haven't been, then get off your arse and go!
