March 2007 Archives
The photos of our Taipei trip of our Taipei trip last year are finally up. Check 'em out, make comments, salivate over all the food.
Mini and I travelled to Kyoto last Wednesday.
We ate and ate, saw temples and flowers, and ate some more. I tried fugu for the first time, and hid from ninjas in Nijojo temple.
Kyoto is full of beauty, which is surprising when you first arrive - the area around the main station is nothing but concrete and bitumen. But as you explore a little you start to come across small cobbled streets lined with wooden shops and shrines and temples.
We took a lot of photos, and bought a lot of souvenirs. I bought a pair of tabi that are a little too small - but I hope the fabric will stretch with use.
As they say, Kyoto is a city built around the seasons, and we were there on the cusp of Spring. Flowers had started to bloom, and the gardens were really coming alive. I think I'd really like to go back in Autumn and see the leaves change.
In summary: if you haven't been, then get off your arse and go!
It was Mark's 30th birthday party last night, so we went to Usaya de Tapas. As per usual, it was amazing. The chef worked alone in the kitchen for three hours, and the food didn't stop.
Oh, and it was also the night the Mark and Misa formally announced their engagement. So, now they're, like, totally engaged! I bet they love each other. Eeew!
Freakin' Foie Gras!
Partly to motivate people to come and climb Fuji, and partly because I've been wanting to change things for a while now, there is a new design with a shot from Fuji for the background.
I've playing around a little bit a with web design recently, since I did work's new site. It's been fun.
Oh, and one more thing. Mini and I are going to go to Kyoto for five days around the 20th of this month. If anyone has any recommendations for what we might do, I'd be delighted to hear them.
Good night all!
Today was mostly reading, DVDs and hot chocolate (with a little kanji study).
If you're in 経堂 I recommend you check out Cura2.
There has been a vacant lot very close to my house for the past two years. Every six months or so the grass has been mown, but apart from that, there has been no activity.
It appeared in the space of a day, and so did a bunch of cars and a motorbike.
Will someone tell me why?
...or at least to mountains...mountain.
This year I'm posting early in the hope that many will come. In summer during the fireworks season we will ascend Mt Fuji once more. Any and all of you who read this blog are invited.
