Summer boredom

Since it's 夏休み, a lot of students don't bother showing up to work. Which would be fine, except I can't relax unless I *know* they won't be there. As it is, I spend a lot of my lessons waiting for a student that never comes.

Or, even worse, only one student from a class of four shows up. Invariably, they're the most boring student of the class and make me want to kill myself in front of them just to get a reaction. I just had a student then, and I spent most of the class plotting his eventual firey doom.

Like having the human torch strangle him to death.

Or setting fire to his nasal hair, hoping it'll spread to his brain.

Fire death!

Ridiculously Late Notice

(View from Fuji provided by Stan)

So, looks like we'll be going up Mt. Fuji (富士山) next month on the 18th. Which is kind of late notice. Sorry about that. Should've given more notice. Not really enough, I know.

Still, come if you're able.

It's summer

It's really summer.

This year the rainy season (梅雨) has gone on much longer than normal. Weeks longer. I like rain in small doses. I actually enjoy a rainy Saturday or two. But needing an umbrella every day and forgetting to bring it home every second night takes its toll.

However, the sun has again risen in Japan (or at least Tokyo). Yesterday was a smouldering 35 degrees (actually, I forgot to check the temperature yesterday, but it certainly felt at least that hot). Today is around 33 and it has yet to rain.

I'm looking forward to our week of real summer a lot. It's going to be awesome.

Oh, also, we're going to Vietnam for a week in September. Nathan, if you still read my blog, you should mail me suggestions, and I'll review them carefully.

Pie

And that is all I have to say about that.

...

Actually, I will say that it was delicious. And that we (Mini and I) made it.

Also, we ate it. And more.

Pie!
