Organising stuff

Dayam, I gotsta organise me so much shizzle.

Passport...check
Visa application...
Medical insurance...
Tickets...
Moolah...
Random crapperie...
etc...

I don't know if I've written this here or not, but I'm off to sunny winter Europe for the Christmas period. Should be good. Should be. But now I have double organising to do (which is twice as much).

Dentist...
Podiatrist...
Hair surgeon...

In other news:
I may have run a red light the other night. There were flashes. Crap.
Robin thinks that liberal party members should be referred to as 'thugs in jumpsuits', which is cool, since we all know that most liberal party members had a stint in a giant glam metal band at one time or other in their past.

::Shudder::

Packin' my bagses

The man in control of both our senate and lower house
The man who would be accountant...erm...king...erm

That's right peoples, our senate and lower house are now both controlled by the one and only John Howard. I'm afraid to leave and I'm afraid to stay. On the balance, however, I'd rather not be here to witness the dismantling of our public free education systems, independent television content, publicly owned telecommunications, and anything else worth having that doesn't make money in the short term.

It hurts to see that Australians have elected a parliament of accountants. However, the real pain comes from seeing anyone in full control of Australia's political and cultural direction. It would be (almost) as bad to see full control go to Labor.

Oh well, hopefully during my year away in Japan there will be some sort of constitutional crisis, and I'll return to an Australia which hasn't been completely culturally strip-mined by thugs in suits.

The end?

Trolling...good for the soul?

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: Yes, yes it is.

Seriously, a bit of fun at the expense of a Delta Goodrem fan, or a rabid Backstreet Boys admirer does one a world of good. I highly recommend spending a few minutes each week scoping out some easy targets on imdb.com or anywhere else, really, and making some poor defenseless wretch feel just a little bit worse.

Imagine the damage you can do to someone who ties up their self esteem with people they have never met, people who become nastier and more removed the more famous (and thus the more desirable) they become.

...

Actually, now that I think about it, it does seem a little mean.

...

Unless they like Delta Goodrem.

If any of you mothers think that my man Nathan cares about you, then check this righteous visage:

Nathan's Disdain

That's right peeps! He holds you in contempt of cool, he likes to call this his "Robo-disdain". Uh huh

Yeah

This weather!

Wow, it's 33C out, and I'm loving it. Strangely, sitting in an office in front of a computer seems like less of a chore with glorious summer seeping through the windows.

If it's like this on Sunday, I'll be a very happy reader

Superdead

Christopher Reeve died today at age 52. Once he was super. Then, not so much. Now, very little at all.

Goodbye, wonderful superdead, we will miss your antics.

And so it goes

Looks like another three years of Coalition government.

I wonder where I'll go after Japan.

Hopefully, this happy fellow will be gone by the time I'm back.

Have I Used The Hungry Hippo Line Before?

What a century. What. A. Century. Don't understand what I mean? Me neither.

Things have happened this week. Things many and varied. I voted. I went for my Japanese Company interview. I think I did okay in my Japanese Company interview. I'm pretty sure I did okay at my voting interview. Made amusing small talk with the officials there. Helped break the ice. Everyone was my friend. I voted for people I didn't know, and didn't vote for people I did. I laughed it up with my new found buddies of democracy, and danced the dance of the soon to be liberated. Oh, what songs we sang, what drinks we drank, what paupers we beat.

Soon, my puppets, soon we will have a new master. And he will be as the last one, and ever-more shall they be. And when a new and different master comes to us, the people, we shall not vote him our hearts, we shall cast him out, to ensure an unbroken line of clond drones as our leaders.

* * *

Anyhoo, like I said, The Company interview went quite well. I'm relatively positive about my chances, and getting pretty excited. I'll know either way within a week, so stay tun'd.

I really feel like going out and doing something now. But what? I don't know, don't ask me! I think I might go and sit in the Sun for a couple of hours and read me some book. Some sweet, sweet book. Ahhhh, yeah.

Yeah.

Signing off, my lovelies.

More Flickr'n

Quick post. I have uploaded some photos to flickr. At the moment, there are only pictures from Saranne's farewell party (with a cool accompanying flash based slideshow). But eventually (ie, some time tonight) I will get the last of my Melbourne photos up there.

Bon voyage!
