Japan!?!

I have been talking about Japan now for a while. Well, not on this blog, but, you know, in person, and now it looks like things are progressing quite nicely.

On Monday, I talked to my superiors. I said that I wanted to go to Japan next year and that I would be attending an information day and interview next Thursday. They were very supportive, and truly cool about it. They said all the nice things ('it'd be a great loss', 'we'd miss you'), and they also said they thought it was a great opportunity and I should really go for it.

On Wednesday night, my boss took me out for dinner and we talked. He said he wanted me to know that there were no hard feelings, and that I could be confident of a position at CVT when I returned if that was what I wanted. Again, supportive and cool.

Anyways, Saranne is leaving on Monday for Japan (if you having been keepin' up to date), so that is very exciting. Strangely, her leaving makes the possibility of my leaving more real to me, which makes me cry into my pillow for joy.

Hopefully, Robin and I will be seeing AVP tonight, looking forward to all that schlock. Gotta go!

News flash!

Okay, so you might be researching that lump on your elbow, and you stumbled upon this blog, or you might be looking for some sweet, sweet ocean liner pictorial spreads. Whatever mistake lead you here, fear not, I have something to give you.

You must now, with great haste head over to Saranne's blog (Mukashi Mukashi)! If you don't go (and believe me, I'll know), then I'll put a gypsy curse on you, and that lump will turn into a handsome prince....with an achin' for a stabbin'!

Update: Okay, looks like saranne-jared.com might be having some virtual server issues at the moment, so I won't curse you just yet. But I'll be waiting, and when it's back up, you better check'it before you can say "Please don't stab me, your royal-elbow-attached highness!"

Update II: Right. The heat is on! Saranne-jared.com is back up and better than ever, so get yo' ass over there and check out its majesty.

Happy Birthday Dad!

In case you're reading this dad, happy birthday! Hope you liked the Firefly DVDs.

I'm looking forward to our mass media consumption on the 25th.

Mirrors everywhere!

Some of the more observant readers may have noticed a link to The Mirror Project on the right. If you're bored and on the 'net, I suggest mosey'n on down.

While you're there, be sure to check out my submission, it'll knock your rockin' socks off, or rock your knockin' socks off, or sock your knockin' rocks off.

Krockin!

Violence Abounds

Mizzle to the Bizzle is a violent, violent place. Tram conductors beat you up, gang members shoot each other in public restaurants, and the police, well, they pull you over for violently talking on your mobile while driving!

But the weirdest thing about Mobbly Bobbly is that they have freakin' Gun Shops here! Seriously. I have seen two in the last week. Near the city! These places have big signs which proclaim them to be a "Gun Shop". I can't get over that. Who in Melbourne that isn't a police officer, a gang member or a tram conductor buys a gun?

If anyone knows why Melbourne needs gun shops, lemme know. Since I've stopped comments due to crapflodding, you'll have to email me. Since I don't read email due to spam, you'll have to ring me. Since I don't answer my phone due to telemarketers, you'll have to meet me in person. Since I'm a crazy-arse gun-totting sociopath, I wouldn't recommend that.

Peach.

I'm serious, stop buying crap!

I really need to stop spending money on crap I don't need. I don't know if it's the Molly Melly Bing Bang air, or if it's that I'm living away from home, or no good reason at all, but I keep buying things.

I bought a VOIP phone, then I bought a Chris Cunningham DVD, then I bought Medlla by Bjrk, then I bought season 1 of The Sopranos then I bought...whoa there...I should probably stop providing such a complete consumer snap shot, else I might begin to suffer from effective marketing strategies! Dun dun DUN!

Erm.

Point is, I'm leaking money like money was liquid and I had sprung a leak. (That is, assuming that I was a liquid money container, which originally contained money, but now has less money due to the fact that it had sprung a leak.)

I think that about sums it up nicely.

Stupid, stupid, stupid

Um, piece of advice, don't talk on your mobile phone while driving in Victoria...or anywhere else, really.

So, now I'm three demerit points richer and one hundred and thirty eight dollars poorer. Still, at least I got to say 'it's a fair cop'...not really worth $138 though.

Turns out I have room for seven demerit points before anything drastic happens, so I still have some breathing room.

Bleh.

MW1 Almost Over

First week in Melly Burns is almost over. Only half a day of work left, and then my first Melbsta city adventure will begin.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing ole Molly Melly Bing Bang in action....yep, really hanging out to see Mozzle to the Bozzle in all her urban splendour. Uh huh.

...

Mizzle Bizzle.

More party round up

Always with the flickr! I should have such an advocate!

If you want to catch a few choice shots of the party we had last Saturday, head on over to the party's flickr set. If you haven't seen Merryn doing magic, then go there already!

Exclamation!

Melbsta Continues

Melbsta? Mels? Melly Burns? Is there an ocker 'abbreviation' of Melbourne?

I'm adjusting to working in the Melbourne office. It is quite different to Sydney. For one thing, at full capacity, there are only three people here. Another, we do not have our lunch served to us every day. And, of course, finally, I'm living at 'the office'.

One thing that I am enjoying here is that I am encouraged to experiment on things that interest me. Well, they did curtail the whole putting lipstick on monkeys thing, but if something that interests me also happens to be potentially useful (read profitable/efficiency enhancing), then I am given a green light. Which means that at the moment I am playing with VOIP and other tasty acronyms.

I haven't really seen much of Melbourne yet. I have driven in my car exactly twice. Once to pick up some groceries on the second night I was here, the second time to head over to Mount Waverley to pick up a couple of VOIP phones. Both times it rained and I only caught the tiniest glimpse of the city. The weekend will definitely be for explorin'. Oh yes.

I have procured me some o' dat good ol' coax, so now I done got me a pci-based tela-vision. Erm. Sorry. Still, I got to watch The OC last night, and I enjoyed myself immensely. Yes-siree-bob. Still haven't watched Atlantis yet, but I'll probably catch that tonight.

Back to the working horse I go now, but because I'm such a nice guy, and because I like nothing better than people looking at stuff on the web, and because I'm bored as all hell, I'd like to share one last link with you...an rss feed of my flickr photos, for all you guys out there that begged me for it. You know who your are...mum.
