There and back again

Went up to Newcastle today to gather up and fax a copy of my academic transcript. The journey was long and arduous, but the rewards were bountiful.

On the way back, at the train station I met a man who wouldn't live in Hornsby because there were two many people like...(he stretched his eyes with his hands). Not three minutes later, he asked me if I thought people in Sydney were racists, because that's what he'd heard, and he wouldn't want to live with that...which left me a mite confused.

Just before boarding, I bumped into a guy and his girlfriend. We both looked at each other strangely, then experienced a moment of mutual recognition:

"Do I know you?" he asked.

"Yeah, I think you do...a party or something?"

"Did you study comp. sci.?"

"Yeah! Oh! You were in graphics!"

And so, with our common history established, we rushed through a catch up (he's working for Red Back, this is his final year), then he asked me to look after his girlfriend on the trip, and we embarked.

We, train lady (as I will call her) and I chatted about moving to Sydney (she moved here just a week ago), and rapped on random topics...it was pleasant, and certainly passed the time...when we weren't talking, she'd lie down and I'd listen to music and read. It was one of my quickest trips to Sydney.

Well, off to bed. (Actually, that's a lie, off to finish watching Alias which I've been watching during the construction of this post.)
