Promise kept.
Seriously though, there is some new content...look at the image of the week to the right!
Promise kept.
Seriously though, there is some new content...look at the image of the week to the right!
etc, etc...
I will post tonight!
I'm at work, making a long series of phone calls to voicemail boxes, checking whether the scheduling we have in place is fully working...riveting stuff!
I won't be home 'till quite late tonight (the current time is 7:32pm, and I don't expect to get home 'till about 8.15 at the very earliest)...so no more content from me this fine eve.
Only three mailboxes to go! Huzzah for the gentleman in the fuzzy hat! Onwards, my shadowy brethren, ONWARDS!
I have a bunch of hand-written stuff to post, and I will...soon...ish.
Future content: I wrote a draft of part of a story on a train about a week ago, I wrote some stuff on my first day of work, and some stuff from when I was out at a site for work (waiting for a phone call)...
So, why don't I write it now? Well, I could claim fatigue, but that really wouldn't cut it, so I'll be honest and admit to eXtreme laziness (or XL, which is also a widely used software development model).
Weekend wrapup: Nat had a birthday party on Friday, he is now in his last year of the hip young 18-25 bracket. Mum and Sarah and Nathan came down to Sydney on Saturday (separately), Nathan stayed 'till late afternoon Sunday (slept on our particularly uncomfortable sofa). I finally got around to watching the latest episode of Alias that I had downloaded, and Robin went climbing somewhere in the Blue Mountains.
Weekly forecast: Work, work and work with a slight chance of work.
Well, finished my second day of work, went faster than yesterday, which is good. Much less tired than last night, also good. Have started learning some more interesting stuff, which is very good.
Had work today. Got up at five am. Got back just before eight. Tired. Will write more on weekend.
Nathan came over this weekend, we had a rollicking good time. Went into town, walked about, discussed seeing a film at the Opera Quays Dendy, but 21 Grams was playing too late, so we had an afternoon snack at Portobello Caffe` and returned home to gourmet pizza and a viewing of The Butterfly Effect which was actually a little bit better than I thought it would be...though I'd recommend waiting 'till DVD release, if you want to watch it.
The next day we stayed in Sydney much longer than we had planned, and I ended up getting home (to my parent's house, that is), just before dinner. It was great to see my family again, (though I do see them a lot), and there is something very soothing about being around the trivialities of home.
Today, dad and I went shopping. I needed some more shirts and ties (and trousers, though I didn't get any) for work, and dad bought me a leather case which is great. We then had lunch at Mardi's in Charlestown Square, which was quite good.
I'm back home now, waiting for Robin to ring me. We're going to go grocery shopping for the week, although in all honesty, I just want to go to sleep now...I'll probably be getting up at around 5am tomorrow, and I'll need my rest...
Update: I forgot to mention that I missed out on Nat's and my last weekend off, which sucked royal jelly...hopefully we'll be able to do something soon.
Okay, so I'm sitting here at home, minding my own business, when in wafts the most delicious barbecue smell I have ever encountered. Oh man. Some of you that know me will be aware that public barbecues are my all time favourite food occasions, so this is pure torture...I think it may be next door, but I'm afraid to look, because if it is, I'll just have to knock on their door and beg.
Arg! The agony!
So, I got my job today at cvt. Craig woke me up at ~9am with the phone call and asked me to convince him I was the man for the job.
Starts on Tuesday.
Went up to Newcastle today to gather up and fax a copy of my academic transcript. The journey was long and arduous, but the rewards were bountiful.
Got a call tonight at around eight, from the place I've been going to interviews at. They want me to come for an interview tomorrow at four pm. I had just assumed that the job went to the other candidate, so this is good news.
Just remembered that I have to wash my shirt. Damn, now I'm going to be up for another twenty three minutes!
Completely off-topic: lemme know if the new index renders (or doesn't) in your browser of choice. Looks like I'm going to be rewriting my CSS code to cope with the inadquencies of IE, once again.
Just got back from an hour's walkabout around Hornsby. Lindsay, Nat and I travelled around the place, taking some photos (which I'll post laster) and taking in the (admittedly dark) sites. At one point the police confronted us (they declined to be photographed), but we got away cleanly (except for Nat, who is spending the night in jail).
Well, the great lady Sleep is calling to me, and I give myself to her completely, utterly. She will bear me down her estuary, and I shall know bliss.
::Yawn::
So I was thinking. My post about Friday was all doom and gloom, but to be honest, that wasn't representative of the day.
My parents came over, and we had lunch and talked and waited for the job place to call (they didn't), and we had dinner which was even better than lunch (which was very good). All-in-all I enjoyed myself greatly.
It's strange having one's parents around. I finally understand the mad pre-arrival cleanup which occurs. It's nice being able to be their host, offering them drinks and what-not (I love that expression).
I capped off my day by watching three episodes of 24 and three episodes of Alias that I had downloaded from the internet...and maybe an episode of Gilmore Girls, but that's neither here nor there. I retired just after half past one this morning, and Robin had yet to return from Go club, he's back now, but still asleep as far as I can tell (his door's shut).
I have now the sorry duty of eating delicious curry leftovers...O! woe.
Over.
This has been an excellent Friday.
Firstly, I didn't get the job, which when I think about it, isn't completely excellent.
But, secondly, Nathan has to work on Saturday now, so he can't come up. Hold on...
Oh.
Lindsay, Nat and Nathan are coming down on Saturday, and anyone reading this is welcome to come along.
Robin and I really need to organise some sort of apartment-warming-party soon, it's just silly how many of our friends still haven't seen it!
I've been messing around with the site's css, trying to iron out some interface bugs that have been bothering me. It seems to render properly under the gecko and khtml engines, but I don't have access to IE. So, if you are using IE (or any other browser for that matter), and it does look broken or weird, could you post a comment, and maybe send me a screenshot?
Changes!
Update: I have altered magisys.net's main index, it requires a viewing window at least 1000 pixels wide, and probably won't render in IE at all! Lemme know if it does.
Robin's website has some actual content! Two galleries, featuring pictures from his kayaking adventures. Check'it!
Rang the work place today, registered my enthusiasm, will be notified of outcome on Friday.
::Fingers Still Crossed::
Had my second interview today, I think it went pretty well. I'm supposed to ring them after I have seriously considered what I have been told about the job. I'm personally very positive about the position, and I have decided I would enjoy working there. I'm going to ring them tomorrow afternoon, around 2pm.
::Crosses fingers::
Nat has started his own blog, it's hosted on Robin's server pudding, under the magisys.net domain. Check it!
My, that's a lot of hyperlinks.
